The Big Cup
July 14th, 2008

honey honey how you thrill me…

There’s nothing better for my big come back than this :

For those who were wondering why of all destination I chose Australia, well, here you are the answer: because it’s one of the first country where Mama Mia! - The Movie [how more clever those marketing genius can get, adding “-The Movie” so that we would know it was not the musical that was reopening worldwide, oh my…] was going to be released! That’s why you haven’t heard from me for so long, I was busy, I was expecting.

Oh boy, it felt so good to finally be able to see this. You can ask Allan, who was kind enough to share this thrilling moment with me, I was like a child. Keeping staring at my watch every two seconds waiting for the theater to be cleaned and ready, arriving to the cinema one hour early, this silly grin on my face. When I start writing my memoirs, I must include this bit.

And so, after never ending commercials, the magic finally happened, I have a dream… and on and on for two hours. Yes, it feels a bit weird when suddenly these guys start singing ABBA songs to express themselves. Yes, the story -wait, what story?- is the corniest ever. Yes, I have seen better choreographed shows. And yes, thank god Ian Fleming wasn’t a musicals writer, otherwise we’d be in real trouble. But I don’t care, I loved it, it made me feel the way I like to feel - I could try to explain this feeling here, but I just don’t have the right words- saw it last Friday and went back again the following Sunday, and will definitely go again next week end. Yes, it’s a stupid show, and I know, how dare I spend my time watching crazy people singing the silliest songs -seriously, are those lyrics supposed to actually mean something?- that were ever written when so many bad things are happening in the world. Oh well, I guess the thousands of pilgrims that are currently invading Sydney -blocking the whole town by the way, I mean, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to walk to my work- will surely manage to convince God to do a great miracle, and hopefully I can go back and see adorable Amanda Seyfried sings her guts out -and she can sing, not like Helena Bonham Carter if you get my drift… - without feeling guilty at all!

For those who get to see this movie, I’d love to hear your comments. Maybe we can engage -like I did with my friend Allan- in a deep and passionate discussion over La Streep, debating whether she deserves her top actress status, or if she’s just over the top… Yes, let’s debate! Personally, I’m more in love with her now than ever, she does dance just like me, I feel like I’m not alone anymore!

Oh, and before I go back to expecting mode - Wall-E isn’t released until September here- I should probably tell you that I am doing F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S-L-Y well, and that I do enjoy Sydney very much, the highlight of the month being starting drama classes - who could have foreseen that someday I’d get to be a fish witnessing a shark attack? There are no new pictures for you yet because I haven’t gone on any new road trip since my Three Sisters adventure; I’ve mainly focused on the night life and weirdly enough I don’t really want the whole world to see those pictures yet. But as Benedict XVI my best friend is arriving really soon, and I know he’s just gonna have to share his love of Australia with me, I’m pretty sure pictures are going to make their come back too…

Lucky boy.Mama Mia won’t be released until september and I’ll have to wait for the DVD release since the trailer in French is definitely unbearable, if you see what I mean, silly voices for everyboby, seriously why do they do this ?

I’ll go and see Mama Mia in Chinese if I have too, but i WILL listen to La Streep because they won’t dare dub the songs.
At least There is something fun that’ll take place in September, not just going back to work : Mama Mia; the release of the second season of brothers and Sisters, and of the sixth season of The Shield; I might avoid the famous September/post-summer-vacations-nervous-breakdown…
We love you, cutie. On attend les photos du Karibou.
