help wanted !

info | 3 Comments

I have been playing with this StatCounter tool I’m using to see how many people visit my blog, and from where they’re from. And here is what I’ve found in the Returning Visits section :

“The best and most successful websites are the ones with a very high
return frequency. If you have a low or non-existant return frequency
you may want to change your website to encourage your visitors to come
again and again.”

Let’s see, only 8% of my visitors have actually visited my blog more than 10 times…so, what does this mean ? That I should change my website ? Alright, why not, after all it is what I  do best in blogs, changing them. But I am not going to build a whole new different thing on my own, I am going to ask YOU (yes, you heard me, I want to know what you think) what it is you’d love to see on my blog.

So here you go, I’m listening, tell me what it is that’s missing on my Big Cup that prevents you from coming back. You want more tasty recipes, movie reviews, cartoons, Brad Pitt naked (yeah right, like I actually have such a picture…), come on, rush to the comment section and tell me what it is you’re dying to see here at The Big Cup !

clooney to the rescue

videos | 1 Comment

Ok, that’s it, it has to stop, I can’t put up with this strike anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I totally support the writers, 200 %, I just hope the big and rich studios are going to start behaving a little so that negotiations can actually happen. I mean, how am I supposed to deal with mondays if I can’t be treated with a Brothers & Sisters episode in the evening ? Thank god George Clooney is coming to the rescue, let’s hope he’s going to be able to actually help the situation here…

ski adventures

family & friends | 4 Comments

I must say that given my past experience as far as skiing is concerned (which involves a lot of panic attacks, and me refusing to put my feet on the snow EVER again), when my brother asked me two days ago to go skiing with him, it took me a while to give him an answer. Well, it’s a good thing I agreed since today was one of the best ever. We were in “The Massif Central”, at the resort le Lioran and the snow was fabulous, the weather even better, and we really had a lot of fun. So, I guess I can ski after all :) !!!

Wonderful pets

family & friends | 2 Comments

Turns out Christmas isn’t all about Santa after all (or good wine, or both) ; I know, I said “see you back in 2008″, well, after spending a splendid afternoon at Cathy & Monica’s, I just couldn’t resist posting those pictures. If pets main purpose was to be cute, these three are definitely the best. Please, meet Patsy (aka. cutty doggy), Miss Tara (a bit posh but we love her anyway), and last arrived, young Miss Moussette (so small, so furry, so a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e). Who could believe now that I’m not much of a dog person…

dalida online

music · videos | No Comments

I must say I’d never really thought about looking for Dalida on Daily Motion, I would never have thought that the results would actually be accurate… Well, I guess I was wrong, because here she is, more faaaabulous than ever ! I couldn’t resist, I had to share !

I just love this way she has to keep smiling whatever she says and how she enacts her song so well (note how her hair plays a really essential part) :)

monday is the worst

random | 3 Comments

What’s about Mondays, really? After having a wonderful weekend - a great birthday, wonderful movies (once  - it took some time to cross the ocean, but it was definitely worth waiting - and the edge of heaven) - you suddenly have to wake up early, go to school where you have to sit in front of a bad looking computer, and code for the whole day… Really, what’s to like there? Thank god my Google Garfield of the day was a good one!

And it gets better. In the evening I get to catch up with Desperate Housewives, Weeds, and my absolute favorite right now, Brothers and Sisters (could Sally Field get any better ?), while enjoying a homemade-so-hard-to-find-in France cheese burger. So, I guess everything is not so bad about Mondays after all :)

burritos à la thomas

food | 2 Comments

Alright, enough with the cupcakes, I feel sugar high already. I am going through this phase where I feel too lazy to cook. First solution was to start eating nothing but pasta, trying to stay creative with the sauces. Well…worked for almost two months. Now, I can’t even look at a pasta plate anymore. So, I had to find a new quick/easy/not greasy/not messy recipe…

burritos.jpg

burritos à la thomas
for three tasty burritos, you need
2.5 oz white rice
3 tortillas
1 good looking chicken breast
some swiss cheese
3 tablespoon of tasty curry sauce (this HAS to be good, otherwise your burritos will be a total failure), if you feel like a chef you could of course make your own curry sauce.

let’s get going…
Boil up some water for your rice. While waiting for the bubbles, cut your chicken in tiny pieces. Once the water is boiling, you know what to do (if you put the chicken in it, wrong idea). While your rice is cooking put you chicken in a hot pan. When it’s well cooked, put the rice in the pan, then the sauce. Stir for a minute or two. We’re almost done, pour the content of the pan in your tortillas, add the cheese, roll up the whole thing, and, enjoy !

a cup is born

info | 2 Comments

That’s it, I’m taking my big cup one step higher with this brand new blog generator movable type. I also thought it was time to think of a design much more appropriate for a coffee shop. Yep, you heard me right, this place is an e-coffee shop, where you can sit comfortably in one of our huge armchair, enjoying our home made cupcakes with…of course, a big cup of hot chocolate (coffee isn’t tolerated yet around here, we want people to relax…)! I know this blog is rather empty, but that’s only for now. I must say that installing movable type was quite challenging, and especially making the design…those powerful tools are great, once you know how to use them! Anyway, I hope you’ll have fun here, I’m counting on you to make this place even more alive than the old version of the big cup! (don’t you dare complain about the virtual cupcakes, I swear that if you concentrate enough, you’ll be able to enjoy them, they’re so tasty! )
